Larxene grew up in China Town with her father, living in a flat above the repairs garage he owns. Because he was a single parent, he often let her stay in the garage and help him with the cars. As a result Larxene is very good with machines and electronics, and is somewhat of a grease-monkey around automobiles.

The lack of a mother figure in Larxene’s life led her to become rather cool and callous – growing up spending time in a car garage with loud, somewhat raunchy mechanics also had a large part in her development of an attitude. Sarcastic and snarky, she enjoys watching people squirm as she boxes them in with words. She has a hard time warming up and being kind, and would much rather find somewhere to sit and read a book or take something apart than interact with someone. In fact, that was how she spent most of her childhood: secluded, teaching herself as she took things apart and put them back together. Neglect, therefore, only helped her attitude and sarcasm flourish. She was not bitter; she was cultured into a state of apathy.

As a mechanic working long and hard, unable to raise her as he wished he could, Larxene’s father was strict on the fact that she would get a good education and would make something of herself in life. Larxene, however, had different plans. She had no doubt from when she began school that she would exceed her father – she felt little for the man, knowing that her situation was a direct result of his past actions – and excelled past her peers in several subjects. But only in several subjects: the ones that she cared about and interested her. She felt the others were a waste of her time, and brushed them off without a second thought. This infuriated her teachers, who knew that she had the potential to do well in anything she set her mind to, but she didn’t care. She already had goals for herself and knew how to get there with minimal effort on her part in the things she didn’t like. She entered high school as a mixed bag for the teachers: those that had her in math and science classes, as well as English literature, were blessed with an intelligent, if not sarcastic, student. Her history teachers were always at a loss, as were those who taught the other classes she felt she had no need for. Even so, she passed everything she needed to and continued on to enter Balamb University, praised for her skills in math and sciences, ready to become an engineer like she always knew she would.

Here, she finally moved out of the apartment she had shared with her father. Despite her lukewarm feelings for him, he loved his daughter even though he knew how much farther up she was than him. Larxene got an apartment in the Rabanastre complex further into the city, and was content to commute to the University while living in the heart of Twilight City. Even though she feels no ties to her father – no nagging feeling of the need to reimburse him at all – she still visits him once in a while because he allows her to work in the shop and pays her for her hours. She has a job at the Locksley Archery Range, but enjoys the perks of the garage and goes back when she can.

Larxene, first and foremost, doesn’t really like people. She tolerates them when she has to, but otherwise avoids interaction because people tend to annoy her. This is very much because she can easily see through them; they bore her because she knows, for the most part at first glance, what kind of person they are. That said, the occasional person can catch her interest if they are mysterious enough, as there is little she likes more than to pry into someone’s mind and see how they work if she can’t already figure out how. She likes finding people’s weak spots and hidden secrets, which often involves her sharp wit and a cruel tongue that she has little issue with letting loose. Larxene is sarcastic, sadistic, and enjoys watching people squirm as she figures out everything about them and toys with them. This has earned her a wide berth throughout school and now, at the university, this has not changed, as the students have no intention of being on the other side of her temper and biting remarks.

Larxene’s attitude and tendency to pry people apart is due to her love of machines and anything electronic. She enjoys taking things apart, seeing how they work, and then reassembling them to work better. It frustrates her when people do not run with the same logic – or any logic at all – like machines do. She dislikes when people get overly emotional and sees emotions as useless, again from her love of electronics and machines. Larxene would much rather spend time with her gadgets or a book than form a friendship, as the former would keep her entertained longer, providing that she can’t find any entertainment in picking apart the other person.

Even though she is adamantly against emotions, Larxene herself goes against her rules. If she’s not bored it’s often because some unfortunate fool set off her hair-trigger temper, or she’s happy in that she’s found prey to mentally disassemble. Stubbornness on her part is also a cause of anger on a relatively frequent basis. While her amusement comes from the pain and discomfort of others, Larxene can’t find it in her to care.

In the rare event that she makes friends, Larxene doesn’t open up completely. She’ll be a little less biting with her remarks and maybe more teasing, though she prefers to keep her secrets and rarely reveals her motives. For this reason it makes it rather hard for others to tell if she actually likes them or not, which amuses Larxene more than anything.

Larxene’s love for machines and electronics stemmed from her childhood, and she has an extensive hobby in taking apart anything she can get her hands on. Even so, her foremost love is cars and similar electronics. She drives a yellow Yamaha motorbike, which she frequently improves and tinkers with herself. She enjoys reading when she has the time, both classical literature and books of engineering.

Because of her tendency to be easily bored, she never does anything in halves: either she does, or she doesn’t. She only works hard in the subjects that interest her, which isn’t a problem now that she is majoring in engineering in college, but in high school she was considered somewhat rebellious and uncaring. Larxene has high goals set for herself, however, largely due to the size of her ego and confidence, so she makes a point to work hard so she can get somewhere – somewhere away from everything that annoys her now.
